How to Find Out What is Happening

Types of Events May Include:

Educational Awareness Days/Weeks/Months

As an institution of higher learning, we are committed to educating students in and outside the classroom. One of the ways we do this is through Educational Awareness days, weeks and months.  These typically coordinate with a national effort to educate and usually are related to cultural celebrations, and/or social or community issues. These weeks may include tabling , fairs, programs, film, lectures, large events or, what we call ‘edutainment’ (a fun AND educational event).

Some of the weeks/days and months we celebrate and support include:

  • Mental Health Awareness

  • Constitution Day

  • International Education

  • Hunger and homelessness

  • Sexual Assault Awareness

  • Aids Awareness

  • Alcohol Awareness

  • Disability Awareness

  • Cultural Awareness (Hispanic, Black, Asian, Women’s, Indigeoness People and more)

Late Night & Weekend Events

We know that students are not just looking for things to do from the hours of 9am - 5pm, so we need to meet them where they are at. We provide late night and weekend programming for those who are here on the weekends.

Some of the events we provide weekly are:

  • Late Night @ Lobo's on Friday nights at 8:30pm

    • Rotates between trivia, karaoke, game night and BINGO!

    • We also do FREE Pizza on any months that have a fifth friday

  • Saturday @ Seven Craft Programs

  • Trips

  • Scene It Movies

Movies

Scene It Movie Nights

Looking for something to do on a Saturday Night at 9pm? Join fellow Sonoma State University students every other Saturday to watch movies. We show a variety of first and second run films in this series.

Social Justice Film Series

This co-curricular monthly series takes a look at social justice issues through the lens of the camera. After the film, we have faculty/staff on hand to talk about the film, and on occasion we have film directors, actors or writers on hand for questioning or via skype/facetime.

Movies on the Green Summer Film Series

These FREE monthly movies feature first and second run films for the campus and surrounding communities to enjoy. There is nothing like seeing a film on the green at the Green Music Center lawn surrounded by friends and family. The screen is amazing, the sound is better and it’s great to see so many families and students enjoying themselves!

Special Dinners

Each month we work with University Culinary Services to provide a special dinner in The Kitchens. These events typically include a special menu, entertainment, decorations, contests and sometimes free stuff! These meals are included in the meal plan, or for those not on the meal plans, they can pay with cash, WolkBucks or card to partake. Socials meals and themes have included Farm to Table, Thanksgiving, Winter Wonderland, Black History Month, Disney, Surf and Turf and Cruising Into Finals!

Spirit Weeks

Spirit Week happens three times a year. Spirit weeks are intended to get students involved and engaged while provide opportunities to connect and enhance Seawolf spirit, community and embrace our traditions!

Some of our spirit weeks include:

  • Week of Welcome
  • Lobofest
  • Springfest
Trips

One way to get to see the area around campus, learn new things, and meet new people, is to participate in the Getaway trip program! Trips go out every week/weekend to a variety of local sights (within 3 hours). The trips we plan are either free or low to higher cost. You may get a discount if you have an RHA Sticker or if you are a student in the EOP/Seawolf Scholars or Puerta programs! Trips range from local hikes, Jelly Belly factory, local cultural celebrations and service trips, to museums, sporting events and the SF Theatre! All trips include vans, tolls and parking for those on the trip!

Trips go on sale the first day of each semester. Watch your Seawolf Living for information on the trips! You can purchase tickets at the Student Center Info Desk, or online at tickets.sonoma.edu.
