Educational Awareness

Alcohol, Fentanyl, Marijuana…the list of substances that are fairly easily available to our Seawolves and the surrounding community goes on. We might think these substances can help us to cope with our anxieties, to navigate challenging situations, and “connect” with others. We also have a lot of preconceived notions about how these drugs and substances interact with other aspects of our life, like academics, social situations, driving, athletic/physical performance, and more.

The Fentanyl Crisis in Sonoma County and across the country has gotten worse and it is incredibly concerning given the amount of cases we hear about daily in Sonoma County , the Bay area or across the country. While we would like to think our campus and community are free from these horrors, they are not. Join us in March as we kick off our Save A Seawolf: Fentanyl and Other Drug Awareness Month. We will hear from Michele Leopold whose son Trevor’s life was cut short from an overdose right here at SSU.

Black and Brown in Blue is a lecture series aiming to build a bridge between the community and law enforcement for a more inclusive community environment. The program was designed to encourage open and honest dialogue in order to reduce barriers and misperceptions.
